HEO session with Canadian Universities

Posted: January 29, 2015

The Higher Education Office will be holding a session on the benefits of studying in Canada on Wednesday 4 February from 10am to 12 noon. Please note that although this is a CPD morning, it is mandatory for all Year 12 students to attend. Year 11 students are also strongly encouraged to make the most of this valuable opportunity and as always, parents are warmly welcome.

Admissions officers from the University of British Columbia (UBC), McGill University and Western Ontario will be making presentations on the following:

  • a general overview of the Canadian education system, highlighting the differences and similarities  between the US, UK and other education systems, the benefits, and the trends
  • life as a university student in Canada,  opportunities for work experience, benefits of co-op programmes, support available
  • the University application process – interviews, essays, TOEFL, fees, timeline

The session will then break out into a mini-fair, and students will be able to talk with admissions officers, finding out more about the individual institutions and courses on offer.

Canada is becoming a more popular and important destination for both  international and domestic students and this is a valuable opportunity for students to consider different options and opportunities and to compare different education systems.

Please don’t hesitate to contact the Higher Education Office if you have any questions or require any further information.
