John Pilkington

Posted: March 29, 2019

Students from class 9.3 were treated to the company of John Pilkington on Thursday 28 March 2019, thanks to our connection with the Royal Geographical Society. Mr Pilkington has been described as “one of Britain’s greatest tellers of travellers’ tales” and is the author of many travel books. He currently works as a broadcaster for the BBC World Service and with Radio 4. He told us the story of his adventures through some of the lesser known states in Eastern Europe that were part of the former Soviet Union. John always travels alone and often by foot so that he has the chance to meet and get to know local people. He was a delightful and engaging speaker who clearly has a passion for geography and other cultures.
