Our recent survey indicated that 44% of parents worry about their child being bullied online and the posting to post in appropriate content and photos.
Primary – 47% of our parents believe their primary child does not have a social media account. Of the ones that do, 16% never look at it and 6% don’t have access to their child’s accounts or don’t know if they have one.
Secondary – 8% of our parents believe their secondary child does not have a social media account. 24% of parents report they never look at their child’s account, 9% report that their child has an account but they don’t have access.
Worryingly 35% of secondary student social media accounts are not monitored or checked anyway by their parents.
On a positive note, 25% of secondary parents only allow their child to have an account if they friend their parent.
