We are delighted to announce that earlier this week the DC School Council approved the introduction of a new programme called the IB Career-related Programme (IBCP). The programme is a curriculum for Y12-13 based on the idea of a career-related specialism. In these years students will be able to choose to study either the IBDP or the IBCP, and the latter will be particularly suitable for students who see themselves as specialists in one area, and have a career-path/future plans for study in mind within that specialism.
The programme will begin in August 2018 and so students currently in Y11 will be eligible to study it. RCHK and South Island School already offer the IBCP and so we are very pleased to be adding this option for DC students – it broadens the choice of what is on offer in Y12-13 and provides a different way of learning in those years, and progressing to University. We have prepared a factsheet that will give families more information about what the IBCP will involve – please click here to access.
Further information about the IBCP will be available shortly via the publication of the Year 12-13 Prospectus in November. We will also hold an information evening for students and their families who are interested in learning more about the IBCP – details are as follows:
IBCP Information Evening
Tuesday 7 November
6.30-8pm
4/F Diploma Centre, Discovery College
This event will be targeted at Y11 students and families, though others are also very welcome to attend. The Explorer will host further reminders about this information evening in the coming weeks. In the meantime, if you have any questions about the IBCP please contact Mr James Smith, Head of Secondary: james.smith@dc.edu.hk.
