Five students from Y6 recently competed in the ESF Minecraft Hackathon at ESF Centre. They were asked to design a school of the future that might exist in 2067 when ESF turns 100. The students used Minecraft as a design tool and were guided through the process by tutors from Koding Kingdom. Everyone was thrilled at the chance to learn using Minecraft and gasps of awe echoed through the room as the tutors showed them how code can be used to create enormous structures in seconds.
DC competed against five other ESF schools and were judged by representatives from Microsoft, ESF and Koding Kingdoms on how well they had integrated code and how their design might reflect trends in school development. The DC team created at a frantic pace all day long and came away with the 1st Runner Up prize of a goodie bag and a $2,000 voucher for Koding Kingdom. Congratulations to all our future architects.
