Dear Parents and Carers

I hope you have all had a great week. I am excited to share with you some highlights that showcase the joy and discovery our students have recently experienced here in the Primary Sector of DC.

Year 2’s Journey through the Science Museum

Our Year 2 students embarked on an immersive trip to the Science Museum on Wednesday, delving into the captivating realm of forces and their impact on our daily lives. From the moment they entered, curiosity, amazement, and excitement filled the air. We extend heartfelt thanks to our dedicated parent volunteers whose support made this trip possible. Your commitment to enriching our children’s lives and fostering their love for science is truly appreciated.

Year 5’s Exploration of the Wetlands

On Thursday 18th January, Year 5 took their learning of ecosystems into the field with a visit to the Hong Kong Wetlands. Armed with binoculars and bird spotting guides, the students consolidated and connected their theoretical learning from class about food webs, the interdependence of organisms, abiotic and biotic factors and human impact on environments. We were blessed with fabulous weather and an abundance of wildlife that came out in the sun. From this experience onwards, the students will inquire into a biome of their choice through a VR experience and test and compare some samples of wetlands water and local DB water to measure the effects of human impact.

Acknowledging the Year 6 Presentation

A special mention to our Year 6 teachers and our PYP coordinator for their presentation on the PYP exhibition and to those parents who joined us. Your participation is paving the way for a memorable conclusion to our students’ PYP journey, and we eagerly anticipate the celebration of their accomplishments.

Applauding Our Young Performers

The Young Performers’ evening was a heartwarming display of the incredible talent within our primary years. The melodies and performances were a testament to the power of music and its ability to touch our souls. I extend my sincere thanks to Mr. McLeay, Mr. Davis, our senior students, and all attendees who contributed to the success of this magical evening.

As we reflect on these moments, we are reminded of the rich and diverse learning experiences that our school offers. Each adventure, whether in the realm of science, nature, or the arts, is a step towards nurturing a lifelong love for learning in our students.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend filled with all that makes you smile.

Best wishes

Ms. Cathrae
