The ISSFHK Badminton season kicked off for the Cobra U12 and U14 boys and girls on Tuesday 23 March.
Playing at Harrow International School the U12s had an affirming start. The U12 girls won convincingly against Harrow 3:1 with Georgia putting up a gallant fight in the second singles going down by only 20:22. In their second match the girls came very close to toppling the highly placed Renaissance College, finally going down 2:3. Everyone played beyond their expectations – well done to all the girls.
Captained by Hashmeet, the U12 boys had a very convincing win over Canadian International School 3:1. In their game against Renaissance College it was more of a battle with two top ranked players on the opposition. The final result of 1:3 did not reflect the effort that our boys put in.
Over on Hong Kong Island the U14s played at Canadian International School. The U14 girls got off to a highly impressive start with a 3:0 victory over Canadian International School. They followed this with an impressive win over one of last years top teams Renaissance College 3:1. This will likely put them as the new favourites for this division at this very early stage in the season.
The U14 Boys also beat Canadian International School 3:0. Led by Alfred they went into the game with Victoria Shanghai Academy confident. Winning the first singles, they narrowly went down in the next 3 games including a 22:24 score in one of the doubles. They believe they have learned from the experience and will reverse the table next time they meet VSA.
Next week the U16 Boys and Girls and the U20 Boys will have their first games.
