The Performers Studio Theatre Company, which includes several DC students, performed in Madagascar a Musical Adventure for 4 sold out shows over 2 days at the Y Studio in Chai Wan on March 23rd and 24th. These students have been working very hard for the past 9 weeks; 2.5 hour Wednesday rehearsals, voice lessons on Saturdays and several full day rehearsals on Sundays to prepare for their performance.
Verabella Tsang (Year 8) as Marty the Zebra and Lucia Torresi (Year 9) as Alex the Lion were a dynamic duo throughout the show and in their duet Best Friends. Verabella gave an outstanding performance in her solo Wild and Free, and Lucia had the audience roaring with laughter with her solo Steak.
Vicky Bond, DC alumni, performed gloriously in her role as Gloria the Hippo. Tyler Brems (Y6) as Kowalski the Penguin, Cherry Yu (Y5) as Private the Penguin and Isabel Krywawych (Y3) as Skipper the Penguin had the crowd in giggles whenever they entered the stage. Jia Toong (Y5) performed as Mort and a Lioness, but also showed her talent through dance and gymnastics in her steak costume for the song Steak. Anna Sze (Y6), Grace Wan (Y5), and Lewis Wang performed energetically throughout the show as the Chorus. Benji Braginskiy (Y5) as Lars the Lemur and Cameraman, Danny Braginskiy (Y2) as Foosa, and Aiyana Yasay (Y2) as Lynn the Lemur all performed beautifully. Other performers of Madagascar are Discovery Bay children and teens from other schools throughout Hong Kong. They all put on an exceptional performance.
Special Thank You to Emma Tielus-Ward, Director and Choreographer, Louise Thoreau, Musical Director, Joshua Keefe, Choreographer, and DC student Sienna Park (Y11), Stage Manager for all of their hard work.
